THE NELSON MANDELA BAY STADIUM LAUNCHES FIRST OF IT’S KIND APP IN SOUTH AFRICA
The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium unveiled its new interactive website and app at an official launch hosted yesterday in Nelson Mandela Bay. The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is the first stadium in South Africa to launch a mobile app.
Head of Commercial at the stadium, Phumulani Hlatshwayo highlighted their aim of becoming a paperless society. “We are on a rigorous drive to become digital as the app provides information about upcoming events, information, venues, features and the latest stadium news. Our website showcases a 360-degree tour of all the venues at the stadium.”
According to the developers, the second major goal of the app is to promote upcoming events and to give people information to keep them well informed about activities at the stadium. Additional features include an option to have a view from your seat or view from your block. This will enable you to click on the map and view what your seat or block would look like.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium took the launch as an opportunity to spread awareness of breast cancer and attendees included Chippa United Coach Seema, Cancer Association of South Africa representative, Chantell Jonkers and breast cancer survivor, Delene Metelerkamp. Their inspirational stories encouraged everyone to support initiatives of breast cancer for both men and women.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium also supported the Algoa FM Virtual Big Walk for Cancer by donating 50 entries to the breast cancer walk taking place on Saturday, 31 October 2020 in aid of the Igazi Foundation.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
