DMG EVENTS SETS THE STAGE FOR UNMATCHED RETAIL FOOD AND HOSPITALITY EXPERIENCE: HOTEL & HOSPITALITY SHOW, AFRICA’S BIG 7, AND INDEX AFRICA MERGE IN 2024
Experience top food, beverage, interiors and hospitality trends, products and innovations at one venue
Africa’s hospitality industry is benefiting from more international hotel chains expanding on the continent and local hospitality companies expanding at a rapid pace. Recent Stats SA data shows that accommodation income increased by 46.7% in 2022 compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, with hotels being the biggest contributors of 63.3% to this growth.[1] Ensuring this growth is supported, The Hotel & Hospitality Show and Africa’s Big 7 will join forces with renowned trade show brand in the global interiors industry, INDEX, to bring you one of the largest retail food, hotel, hospitality, and design events Africa has ever seen.
The 2024 edition of the Hotel & Hospitality Show and Africa’s Big 7 will be run by dmg and Kaoun International, a newly incorporated event organising company of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), organisers of GULFOOD Global, the world’s largest F&B event and dmg events, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Daily Mail and General Trust plc (DMGT).
“The strategic decision to bring these events together aligns with the rapid growth of the hospitality sector. We are looking to cross-collaborate the global retail food, interiors and hospitality industries to ensure greater value to our exhibitors, delegates and attending partners, while highlighting them internationally,” says Evan Schiff, Portfolio Director at dmg events.
The Hotel & Hospitality Show, now in its sixth year, is part of a bigger, global portfolio of hotel and hospitality shows including the industry-leading Hotel Show Dubai and Hotel Show Saudi Arabia. The Hotel & Hospitality Show 2023 is currently on right now, running from 18-20 May at the Sandton Convention Centre and offering a tailored B2B trade show experience that covers trends and top content for the hospitality industry, including equipment and new products.
Leading B2B trade show, Africa’s Big 7, which connects the retail food and beverage markets in Africa, will find its new home at the Sandton Convention Centre from 2024 and be co-located with The Hotel & Hospitality Show. The event, entering its 20th edition this year, continues to attract a loyal following, and new customers who are looking for innovative products and extended business networks in the retail-ready food and beverage sector.
Bridging the gap between B2B trade shows
“The Hotel & Hospitality Show has previously provided restaurateurs and hoteliers with access to all equipment and services required to run their businesses. The co-location with Africa’s Big 7 will now have the added benefit of offering the hospitality sector a one-stop location for the best of local and international food and beverage products,” Schiff says.
INDEX Africa adds another dimension to 2024 line-up
The launch of INDEX Africa promises to be an extraordinary experience, bursting with interior design inspiration from new trends and concepts to sustainable and smart design solutions.
“dmg events owns and operates the leading INDEX brand of shows, which has been connecting architects, interior designers, and hotel and hospitality buyers with suppliers and brands for more than 30 years. This collaboration adds a new dimension of intriguing conferences and inspiring features and products for the interior design and fit-out industries,” Schiff says. INDEX Africa will bring the best of African and global design, décor and fit out products and services to the African market in a dedicated B2B trade setting, unashamedly offering the trade the best prices and options for world-leading products.”
“This will mean three shows dedicated to servicing the retail food, hotel, hospitality, and design sectors in a powerful, focused and scaled solution for attendees. We anticipate many buyers will come from across Africa and further afield.”
Visitors can attend all the shows through one registration free-of-charge for trade attendees.
“Attendees will have an all-access pass to the latest and greatest in hospitality, interior design, and food service, including ample inspiration and immense cross-border networking opportunities,” Schiff concludes.
