Tourism Educators South Africa
Dear Tourism & Hospitality Colleagues and Friends,
🎉As part of our World Tourism Day celebrations, it is our pleasure to remind you about Tourism Educators South Africa (TESA), a registered non-profit organisation (Enterprise Number: 2025/293319/08).
TESA’s vision is to be recognised as the voice of quality higher education in tourism and to contribute meaningfully to advancing tourism education, research, and careers in South Africa.
TESA is guided by a Constitution for the governance of the Association and continues to build its influence through strategic partnerships. All academics affiliated with Institutions of Higher Learning (Public and Private) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges are welcome to be a TESA member. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Department of Tourism in South Africa and established an academic partnership with OASIS for the African Journal of Sustainable Tourism. These partnerships are expected to unlock new opportunities for our members and the broader academic community.
We are pleased to introduce the new Executive Committee for 2025–2028.

Call for submissions: African Journal of Sustainable Tourism
The African Journal of Sustainable Tourism aims to foster and advance scholarly dialogue on sustainable tourism across Africa and other developing regions. We are enthusiastic about the potential of this platform to contribute meaningfully to the academic and practical understanding of sustainable tourism.
AOSIS has set its sights on achieving listing in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) by 2026, which will lead to Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) accreditation. As part of our commitment to supporting the journal’s establishment, AOSIS will sponsor the publication costs for the first 10 accepted articles, enabling them to be published at no cost to the authors.
We warmly invite you to consider submitting your research to the AJST and to be part of this exciting new academic venture that seeks to shape the future of sustainable tourism scholarship in Africa. Please refer to the attached brochure for more information about the journal.
